The Fassi Malaysian Round saw some new faces on the podium

Tom Sykes started from a record-breaking pole position at Sepang International Circuit, as the Yorkshireman got the most from the new track surface to guide his Kawasaki around the 5.5km kilometer circuit ominously fast. Always a good qualifier at the track and having had a share of bad luck in Malaysia, the KRT rider was set to change that and challenge at the top once again.

Teammate Jonathan Rea was looking ahead in his bid to defend his title as the paddock got to Malaysia, with both the Northern Irishman and Championship chaser Chaz Davies focused on the long game. After a double in Imola that saw him cut the gap, Welshman Davies was on the charge.

Honda came from a tough Round at Imola looking to bounce back as BMW and MV Agusta looked to keep their impressive Italian momentum going.

WorldSSP saw Championship leader and defending Champion Kenan Sofuoglu back on top and looking to push further ahead, as Jules Cluzel and PJ Jacobsen recovered from tough Rounds to get back in touch with the number 1 plated machine. Sofuoglu’s teammate Randy Krummenacher, after losing out on the chance to fight for 25 points in Imola, also had his sights set on the Turk and the victory as the World Supersport rookie returned to a track he knows well. Home hero Zulfahmi Khairuddin was also on the charge for glory at his local track, as the WorldSSP rookie returned to a track on which he’s seen success.

But what happened when the lights went out in the heat of Malaysia? Did the weather hold out, or did the deluge come down? Check out the highlights from a classic weekend of racing at Sepang International Circuit and relive the best bits once again.
